Technology and development has allowed for highways, transit among other factors to further integrate the urban and suburban lifestyles. Now the employed can raise a family in a safer, nurtured environment, have larger lots of land and home square footage, all while retaining a job in the central city. This realization comes from very obvious changes in American mentality and over time the conditions that allowed for cities to become central to the lives of residents in a region, differing circumstances allowed for the proliferation of satellite suburbs to spring up around an urban core, retaining an important integration with the economic center, all while enabling a new class of people to live away from where they work.
