I did not realize that The city of Phoenix Neighborhood Services department requires that residential rental properties occupied or listed for rent be registered at the Maricopa County Assessors Office. I’m assuming that a lot of people rent their homes and do not do this. As a result a lot of fraud probably occurs. For instance, often times a tenant pays a landlord rent but the landlord does not use that money to pay the bank the mortgage, the bank forecloses the house, and the tenant is left high and dry. It would probably be easier to track such fraud if everyone were registered with the Maricopa County Assessor.
